Last resort shelter offered

Businessman Nick Nayak of Lake Charles is offering local residents an emergency shelter east of the Calcasieu Correctional Center on Broad Street.

The building is located at 1011 James Sudduth Parkway off Swift Plant Road. It's in the Spartech Polycom plant there.

"It's only a building. I don't have any food or water or anything. They need to bring their own food, water, pillows and medicine. Our building here can withstand winds of up to 175 miles per hour. If anyone is worried about getting blown away they can come down here and hunker down," Nayak said.
