Also, Fifth Ave in Oak Park between OPBlvd and Prien Lake did not appear flooded. The middle school was damaged by fallen trees. Our yard had trees down but no damage.

Overall Damage
Just spent an hour on the phone with my brother, Paul Holland, who has been driving around LC all weekend with chainsaw in hand. Here's his overall impression:
About 1 out of 3 homes have major tree damage. Neighborhoods with more trees have more damage. Wind damage is mostly limited to missing shingles or car ports or anything else the wind could grab. Commercial buildings with large roof spans and wide glass windows suffered much worse.
Going down Common Street, the storm surge appears to have stopped at Black Bayou. the road is impassable past there. However, the mobile home park 1 mi south of the airport appeared fine.
He looped up 171 thru Moss Bluff and back down 210. (BTW - I-10 bridge is still closed due to barge impact damage) Said minimal wind damage, much tree damage was pretty much the same in all neighborhoods.
He has been checking on specific homes for friends. To get to Holly Hill Road, he had to hike from Lake Street because the downed trees were just too big for a hand-held chain saw.
One friend's house had a huge oak tree right through the garage...houses on either side appeared fine.
Lots of telephone pole are snapped off at the base. Those with transformers are often leaking (haz mat?) material on the ground or in yards.
Hope this helps!

The Louisiana Nursing Home Association in Baton Rouge (225) 927-5642 or info@lnha.org may be able to provide info about where nursing home residents were evacuated to.

Also, I work at a medical clinic located on Oak Park, no flooding was reported by my staff. However, they did say our building had roof damage. Also said Memorial Hospital sustained wind damage. I was told by staff there are trees down in the area
